The United Kingdom has Crufts, but over in America Californian puppies are competing for a much cooler puppy decoration.
Last week, the world took to the waves in Huntington Beach for its ninth Surf City Surf Dog event, & it was watched by a people of 3,000 fans.More than 50 pooches went head to head to claim the trophy and title.
The four-legged riders were divided into estimating categories according to skill, their weight and whether or not a human rides together and handled waves from one. They had 12 minutes to browse and have been judged on riding time, confidence degree and ability.
Groups comprised small, medium, big and extra-large (based on weight), a shredder branch (professional-level) for seasoned surfers and tandem classes for dog‐dog and dog‐human.
Marcie Taylor, one of the event’s organizers, said the estimating procedure is comparable to surf contests. Talking to Inside Edition, she stated that the puppies are “judged on different points, like how long they’ve analyzed the waves and design points, so it’s a lot like ordinary human surfers.”An awards ceremony was held right after the competition. Proceeds from the event benefited animal charities including Barks of French Bulldog Rescue Network, Huntington Dog Beach, Love, and Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue.
The competition was tough, but the overall winner was a rescue dog living in Huntington Beach, Sugar. Sugar has collected a total of 15 decorations in dog surfing contests and is a seasoned pro
