How To Save Yourself & Dog from Coyotes
If you live in urban area, you must have seen some weird wild predator like mountain lions & coyotes. In other words, if you live in a big city then you should understand how dangerous they can become without even knowing. The coyote is a canine mostly seen in North America. They are smaller in size comparing with the gray wolf, eastern wolf & red wolf.
After examining many DNA analysis scientists believe that the wolf is the main ancestor of the dog. Dogs & wolves are very close to each other & that DNA examination couldn’t find any difference in between them. On the other end, The DNA of Coyotes was easily distinguished from wolves and dogs on that test. Researches can separate a coywolf form a coyote and a wolf.
Now there is a good news, coyotes can’t harm humans. There is only one person was reported dead by the attack of coyotes. However, since they are dangerous for dogs, you should keep your dog on the walk by making sure that the lead isn’t longer than 6 feet, because it will keep your dog in control also you will be able to pull your dog anytime. If you have puppies, then you better to avoid using any type of variable length lead.

When this period come up, you should be alert of this creature also you better not to scare the coyote off, because they will think that you can harm their babies & they will strike back instantly to secure their babies. If you see any coyote then it’s better to keep walking naturally as if you didn’t notice anything. If you see a lot of coyote then it’s better to stop staring at them & keep avoiding. Sometimes they may follow you while you walk. They literally do it only to become aware that you won’t hurt them also making sure that you are leaving the territory.
In US most governments ask house owners to harass these creatures to make them scared of people & secure our society so that they don’t try to make a territory in human living places. If you or your neighbors see these creatures then you all should work together to keep them away before it’s too late. Also we need to keep in mind that we should not feed them because it will make them to see the human territory as a source of food. You can prevent these creatures by closing up gaps under porches, sheds and similar with strong wire.
Coyotes are small, persistent and very smart creature which makes them to go through fences and garden walls. Coyotes love digging & sometimes they can cause some serious damage if you are not serious about it, to stop them, you need to make sure that, chain link fences are at least six feet tall and links have a depth of 18 inches under the ground, by doing this, it will keep you & your territory safe. Also if you put barbwire over the fences then they won’t be able to climb over.
Never feed coyotes or any wildlife
These creatures are always looking for food & will continue to do anything to survive. If you give them food then they will become greedy & will target you & your house as source of food. So we always advice you not giving food to these coyotes or any other wildlife.
A big huge fence can protect you & your family. You need to have at least 8 feet fence to keep them away because they are expert in climbing.

If you ever see your dog with coyote then you better not to run because it will surely do nothing but making them to chase you. So you all you need is to stay calm at first to handle the situation then you could shout aggressively by waving your arms at coyote. If you see anything near you then can throw it toward coyote.
