Every dog owners should know that how easily they can manage to groom their dogs at home. Regular grooming on a weekly basis will make them healthy, clean and beautiful, & many people want the professionals to do this job, but they don’t understand that they can do it with a little effort and time.
The first thing that you will need to have is clippers which can be very cheap & any clippers can be used.
Before getting started in that it’s better to know the type of your dog’s coat. When you are finally ready to it, you will need someone who will hold your dog because this will help you manage everything easily.
Brushing your dog on a weekly basis is important. If your dog has long hair, then you will need pin brushes, with curry brushes or gloves you can brush short-haired dogs, and if you find any tangles then use a regular brush to work out the tangles.
Now, you need to make your dog calm and cool then keep brushing. If you notice loosing hair and distribute oils from the skin, then don’t get mad, it’s okay. You should also check for burrs and other plant material if found simply brush & cut out.
Now, this step is little difficult, normally your dog won’t allow you to give him/her a bath, but shouldn’t get frustrated. Get someone to hold your dog gently & then keep going slowly, once your dog’s fur is wet, reach for the dog’s shampoo & lather up. Once it is done, use a towel to dry him/her. If the towel doesn’t help then use blow-drying to dry the coat.
Note: For some dog breeds, it’s easier to bath them outside in the backyard because they enjoy it & for other breeds, they enjoy having a bath on a bah-tube or a dog tube.
Take care of nails & paws
How to trim a dog’s nail
Your dog’s paw needs to be inspected, and the nails should be trimmed to an adequate length so that it doesn’t create any discomfort. Use nail clippers to do this.
Brush the teeth
It’s important to brush their teeth on a weekly basis with the dog toothpaste. Now you might be thinking that you can use human toothpaste but you shouldn’t because it will poison your dog with fluoride.
First, place a little amount of paste on your finger and spread it across the dog’s teeth. Once it’s done, use a toothbrush to brush their teeth.
Finally when all these things are done check your dog’s eyes and ears. Take your dog in the brightly lit area and look into the eyes if it’s clear and bright then it’s very good. Also clean dog’s ears weekly but don’t get deep because this will make him angry.
